Absolutely Nothing to do with Parenting

A few days ago I was doing research for the writing job that actually pays me real money when I somehow came upon the Web site of a person who got fed up with the fact that no one ever checks your signature when you sign a credit card slip. If you have 5 minutes and you need a laugh, read about one man's adventures in creative signatures at Zug. I worked retail for several years and I don't think I ever compared the signatures. I don't even think anyone ever told us to.

The signature article is both funny and scary, when you think about it, but what really made me laugh is his article about the Massachusetts Turnpike. In one of his experiments, he tapes an IOU to the toll booth and signs it "Mariah Carey."

It IS scary how many people don't check those signatures.

I've spent the past 22 years in retail, almost all of that time in management. (Yes, I'm crazy-but I love it) Every employer has stressed looking at those signatures and turning away anyone who isn't the cardholder. I've sure made a lot of teens and wives unhappy over the years.

Somehow, I think your paying writing job is going to keep you busy with Vista updates!

The signature story was funny, I like his sense of humor. I have done the same thing numerous times after becoming a victim of identity theft. Still haven't heard from Visa.
