Spoofed

I woke up this morning to over 100 emails in my in-box. In my experience, this is never a good sign.

Nearly all of the emails were undeliverable messages that I didn't send. After closer inspection is appears that the original emails appeared to have been sent from different aliases @jumpingmonkeys.com. It looks like someone is spoofing my domain to send spam. How rude!

These days I think most people filter or delete spam and don't spend much time trying to track down where it came from. But if you're here because you think I sent you spam last night, you're in the wrong place. I would never send spam. I am a nice person. Ask anyone.

Safe Bathing

bathtime.jpgMy greatest fear of motherhood thus far has been bathing baby. I think this comes from the obvious reasons and the fact that I read "Rabbit Run" twice. If you've read it, you know what I'm talking about.

As it turns out bathing an infant isn't really that difficult, especially if you use one of those drown-proof plastic baby baths and as long as you don't do it when you're pregnant, drunk, and distraught over the fact that your husband is living with a prostitute. Because Annabella is now sitting up and because I am happily married and neither pregnant nor drunk, I decided that she was ready to retire her plastic baby bath.

This is not so.

This picture was taking shortly before she slipped out of my hands and fell backwards into the water. I fished her out immediately and I'm not sure if she started screaming out of her own fear or mine.

No harm done, but we're going to keep using this until we can get our hands on some kind of mat to prevent slipping in the tub. On closer inspection of the photo, we probably also filled the bath with too much water. Why don't they put this information in the instruction manual?

Recessive Gene

When Annabella was born we were shocked by her bright blue eyes. Both Marco and I have dark brown eyes. We'd never heard that most Caucasion babies are born with blue eyes and they don't usually settle into their natural color until about 6 or 9 months. Well, Annabella turns 7 months tomorrow and her eyes are still blue.

We can't help but wonder if they're here to stay.

I did the standard 8th grade biology experiments and I remember being pretty fascinated by all those flies, but that doesn't mean I remember a thing about genetics. I looked it up and it turns out that since my father has blue eyes it's very possible, but not probable that Annabella could keep her blue eyes.

Why do I care? I'm not quite sure.
