Happy Halloween

I know it's early, but I wanted to wish you all a Happy Halloween.

If you've known me long enough then you know that I LOVE costumes. I dressed up on The Screen Savers whenever I could for as long as they would let me. I think my love of dressing up came from my mom who made my Halloween costumes every year.

Whatever I could imagine, she could create. The year I couldn't decide between a queen and a blueberry, I was Queen of the Blueberries. The year I decided I wanted to be a writer (5th grade), I was a pencil.

Sadly, I cannot sew. But because my mom was so great at making costumes I couldn't bring myself to buy one for Annabella. Finally, last week I gave in and bought this one online. It was on sale because I'd waited so long, but I had to pay extra to get it here on time. I cut my losses.

I may not be able to make costumes like my mom did, but I will carry on the family tradition of wearing them again and again, long after Halloween. There aren't many excuses to dress up as Queen of the Blueberries in January, but that never stopped me.

Best Grandmothers Ever

Below are photos of Annabella in the two new dresses that her grandmothers made for her. My mom is the master of the sewing machine and Marco's mom is the master of the knitting needles.

The dresses arrived on the same day and she likes them both equally, as evidenced by the equal amount of spit up with which she has covered them both.

Confessions of a High Chairless Mother

Annabella has been eating solid food (rice cereal, oatmeal, and barley cereal) for over a month now and she doesn't have a high chair. We started feeding her in her bouncy seat, but now that she sits up, we plop her down on a receiving blanket and feed her right there on the floor.

I'm not a stickler for etiquette, but lets face it. The girl can't eat on the floor forever.

It's time to get a high chair. Why does there have to be so many to choose from?

I've asked around and read reviews and it seems that the safest and easiest to clean are the Chicco Mamma and the Prima Pappa.

Any other suggestions?

You Were Warned

I don't normally read my horoscope. I'm a Pisces and that's supposed to mean I'm creative and that's about all I know about that.

I've always thought of horoscopes as a way to get people to read ads in a newspaper or now to get people to click banner ads on the Internet.

But I got an email from someone today and she made reference to the fact that a certain behavior of hers was typical of Libras. So I got to thinking whether behavior of mine was typical of Pisces'. I did a quick Google search for "Pisces" and I came up with this site. The horoscope was standard-fare flaky right up until the last line, which I loved:

You were warned of consequences, but none as wonderful as this.
