D-Day

I wonder if most working parents would agree with me that the single worst part about having a baby is the day you have to go back to work?

I want to go back to work. I don't want to go back to work. Financially, I need to go back to work. Financially, we could find a way for me not to go back to work.

I am a bundle of contradictions. I am overwhelmed with guilt. I am nervous. I don't want to go. I know I'll adjust.

Thursday's the day. There will be tears.

Abby & Annabella

Leo and Jennifer went to a wedding and they finally let us stay with Henry and Abby (and some of their cousins). As you can see from the picture, it was unclear who was babysitting whom.

120 GB

When I was in my 8th month of pregnancy my belly was so crowded with Annabella that there was hardly room for any of my organs. They all got squished and moved around to places they had no business being.

Now that she's out in the world, she's been crowding my hard drive. Pictures and digital video pretty much filled up the tiny 10 GB internal drive on my Powerbook. So I decided to buy an external hard drive to store all the photos and video and for back up. I went all out and bought a 120 GB drive because I figured by the time I filled that up, there would be some other kind of storage that would be even better.

I moved all my photos and all my video onto the external drive and I feel like I can breath again.

I got a transintl FireWire portable drive. It works with any computer with a FireWire or a USB port. You can take a look here. It was well worth the $199 we paid for it. It's very fast, very portable, and very attractive. Not unlike Annabella. Only Annabella doesn't have a fancy blue LED on her belly. Well, not yet.

If you use iPhoto for Mac, you can store your photo library directly on an external hard drive, but I couldn't figure out a way to do it without the iPhoto Library Manager, a free download.

Seasons

On our first big hike after Annabella was born we took this picture. On her three month birthday we decided to take this picture in almost the exact same place. It's amazing how much has changed, isn't it?
