I've decided that my last day on the air before my maternity leave will be March 20th. I don't mind working, per se, but I have found that I'm ultra-sensitive these days, my energy is low, and sometimes it's hard not to be grumpy and no one wants to see a grumpy person on TV, especially a grumpy woman.
Because I have to be a month ahead with the downloads I feature on the show, I've filled up all my spaces. However, the recommendations keep coming in. So, I thought I'd start featuring some of the most interesting ones here.
MAC
- PathFinder - A Finder replacement for OS X that's free to try and $35 to buy.
Recommended by Scott Walker, via Leo
- Key Xing - Shareware for OS X that lets you easily create hotkeys for anything.
Recommended by Rick Zaki
WINDOWS
- Ultrasearch - Free Windows utility that searches all areas of Google (even the shopping comparison beta Froogle), Dictionary.com, AcronymFinder, WhoIs, and a lot more.
Recommended by Michael Quinn
- ddcrypt V2.0 - A simple way to encrypt your Windows files and folders. Don't forget to use a smart password with a combination of numbers and letters. The program is free, but the programmer accepts donations.
Recommended by Viper66
- ZipZaps Street Ralley - You know those cool little remote control cars you can get from RadioShack? A viewer names Michael O'Donnell brought Morgan and me some a few weeks ago on one of his many visits to the show. If you're not lucky enough to have the real thing you can download this free game.
Recommended by Michael O'Donnell
- NetCaptor - I'm always in search of a better browser for Windows. NetCaptor is essentially Internet Explorer with tabbed browsing like in Opera or Mozilla. Why not use Opera or Mozilla? Good question. NetCaptor is only free for 15 days and then it's $30 to keep.

One to Skip
I won't tell you who sent me the link to the racing game GeneRally, but you'd be wise to skip it. It hijacked my home page and added a menu to my Windows Explorer windows without asking.
